Germany's Pirate Party has started a video contest to find the best ad for the countries upcoming federal elections. Creative video producers will be able to upload their videos to a new site called Piratenspot.de, where the general audience will vote on it. The winner will see his or her clip broadcasted on major TV networks, thanks to election laws that give political parties free ad space on the airwaves.

The clip embedded above is the Pirate Party's official ad for the current European parliament election contest. As you can see, there's still some room for improvement. However, creative video producers should be aware that even the best video may not reach the airwaves at all: The Pirate Party still needs 46 percent of the signatures necessary to take part in the election contest.
